In front of
their home fans, the BAGUBAs got out to a good start in their dual
season with victories Louisa, and district foes, Meadowbrook and
Petersburg.
In their first match, Dale was able to edge out an always tough
Louisa team by score of 40-38. Pins coming from Turley
(119), White (125), Diamond (152), Sajnin (160) and Dommert (171)
were key to the victory.
In district competition, the Knights defeated Meadowbrook 45-26.
Both teams forfeited at 103 and 112. In the highlight of the
match, Ruben Sajnin (160) brought Knight fans to their feet,
pinning returning district champion and regional placer, Worsham,
in 3:26 of the second period. Going into the second period,
Sajnin trailed 4-1. In the second period, Sajnin quickly
earned two takedowns and then put Worsham to his back for the
stick.
Versus Petersburg, Dale lost only one match to
defeat The Wave by score of 69-6. At 171, John Dommert
became only the 8th wrestler in TD history to hit the century mark
for wins. Dommert was given a standing ovation for the
accomplishment.
The team will travel to Dinwiddie this Saturday
in the Five Fork Duals.
