At
last nights Annual Awards Banquet held in the TDHS commons,
wrestlers, managers, family members, alumni, and fans were in
attendance to witness John Dommert grab four awards after
finishing his senior year with a 55-6 record and a 4th place
finish at the AAA State Tournament. Humble and gracious,
Dommert won awards for the most pins (33), Most Near Fall Pts.
(170), the Steve Bower MVP award (309.5 team pts.), and the Isaac
Dommert Heart To Win Award which is given in honor of his brother
who was a former wrestler at Dale.
Other multiple award winners included Brandon Diamond and Mike
Edmunds.

Isaac Dommert "Heart To Win Award": John Dommert
Head coach, Chris Persing, and assistant coach, Phil White, were
both awarded gift cards from the wrestlers and parents in
appreciation of their efforts. Both Persing and White will
be stepping down next year as coaches. The administration is
currently interviewing new prospects for the positions.
Together, they have compiled a 129-28 dual meet record which
includes 5 Central District Dual Titles, 4 Central District
Tournament Titles, 1 Central Regional Title, and 2 Central
Virginia JV Regional Titles. In the past 5 years, they have
produced 24 District Champions, 2 Regional Champions, and 6 State
Place Winners.
