Knights Finish 10th At James River Duals 01.9.2010

Thomas Dale Knights wrestling team finished 10th out of 20 teams at the 2010 James River Duals wrestling tourney. For a young team with several inexperienced wrestlers the boys, wrestled hard with some very tight matches. They won 2 out of 7 duals, but had a couple that could have gone either way. This team is still young and trying to find its way in a tough Central Region.

They opened up Friday night with an exciting 40-37 win over Mills Godwin. The Knights suffered a loss to the region's #1 ranked team, Hanover, and rounded out the evening with a win over Manchester .  The Knights finished 2nd within their pool setting them up for a tough second day of wrestling.

Saturday was a really tough day for the Knights as they lost all 4 dual matches to Riverbend, Matoaca, Cosby and Deep Run. The Knights lost close matches to Riverbend and Cosby and did not have enough depth to match Matoaca or Deep Run. This was still a good learning experience for the young team.

Special Notes:

Senior, James White,  (130lb) and junior, Brandon Diamond ,(152lb) both went 7-0 at the tournament.

On Friday ,Diamond recorded a huge 6-5 win over Hanover 's Ben Wilson in one of the most exciting single match ups of the weekend. Diamond also recorded his 100th career win, which was the fastest in school history to reach the milestone!!
